DAVAO City is set to host the Meetings, Incentives, Conventions, Exhibits Conference (MiceCon) in 2020 after it won its bid to host the conference.
In a Facebook post, City Tourism Operations officer Generose Tecson uploaded a photo of the plaque awarded by the Tourism Promotion Board (TPB) of the Department of Tourism (DOT) declaring Davao City as the venue for the MiceCon next year.
The awarding was held at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in Bonifacio Global City, Taguig on October 23.
“The Davao City Tourism Office (DCTOO) and the Mice Davao Execom are very happy and proud that we were chosen as the Mice Con Host for 2020. We worked hard for the bid presentation and all the hard work paid off,” said Tecson in a text message with Sunstar Davao.
Tecson recognized the contribution of the private sector in the city’s successful bid.
“Davao’s edge is its private sector, always committed and ready to help the City Government of Davao to make Davao a better place to be in. Trust that we can do it again. Better,” she said in a Facebook post.
She said hosting of the Mice Conference next year will help the city achieve its goal of positioning itself as a Mice destination in the Philippines and Brunei Darussalam-Indonesia-Malaysia-Philippines East Asean Growth Area (BIMP-Eaga).
She said the tourism office and the Mice Executive Committee will be meeting to strategize for the conference next year.
The MiceCon 2020 in Davao City is targetted to be held on September 28 to 30, 2020 at the SMX Convention Center, SM Lanang Premier.
Other cities that submitted a bid for the Mice Con 2020 are Iloilo and Clark.
The Mice Con 2020 is a gathering of about 500 Mice professionals, travel and tourism industry stakeholders in the country.
